Poster Planning and Development

The image included in this poster comes from a shot that was taken when researching location, and look perfect for the mood of our poster. We weren't sure about the titles and position of the titles, but we knew the name of our film.

In these first three pencil drawn posters, we were experimenting with different images, but all include the door with shadow. We were wondering if there would be enough content to fill the page if we were just to have the door, so tried including other content as well, including a picture of the doll and a picture of our main character. Again, we were experimenting with the position of the titles. Our posters were all portrait at this point.

We were sure that we wanted to include the image of the shadow in the door, as we felt it reflected the mood of our film. We based all designs around this.

This was our first foiré into the world of photoshop, and we used simple grey font as well as the first image taken on location, apart from having removed a chair in the bottom left.

Here we have moved the names of the actors to the top, and moved the "coming 2012" to the bottom. The image has been brightened and the titles have changed to red.

Here we have used the smudge tool to blur the outline of the image, to give it a feel of uncertainty. we have changed and moved "coming 2012" to further up the page, and now says 'Autumn 2012.' there is now the inclusion of a tagline in the centre of the page.

We tried having a landscape poster, including splitting the page into two sections. We included a still from the film, depicting a key moment in the film. The certification is clearly displayed and the image of the door is unedited. For the one below we went out and took photos of the doll hanging from a tree, included the tagline in the main image as well as using the smudged image. The image of the doll was blurred into the background.

with this image we tried to have the doll as not being too obvious, blended into the background.

Our final draft of poster was this one, as we prefered the portrait versions.

our final version includes a Facebook logo at the bottom, the 'you' and 'this' of the tagline have moved up and down respectively, and all the titles have been brightened.
